Modulift, in partnership with RSG Rentals and Keltbray Lifting, executed a precise lifting operation in central London, managing with just 2cm of clearance.

The project involved lifting an eight-tonne precast section beneath an existing façade retention structure using a Modulift Multi-Point Lifting Beam.

Keltbray, a company known for its expertise in engineering and construction solutions, faced the challenge of mobilising the necessary equipment within a 48-hour window.

To address this, they collaborated with RSG Rentals, who provided a prompt solution. After discussions with Keltbray’s lifting team, the MP-12 beam was identified as the most suitable option.

The MP-12 Multi-Point Beam, produced by Modulift, was chosen for its low headroom design, which measures 630mm from the bearing points of the shackles. With a capacity to lift 12 tonnes and a span of 6m, the beam provided the required strength and flexibility for the task.

The lift was conducted by Keltbray’s experienced team, utilising additional equipment such as load ring lifting points, bow shackles, tag lines, and a counterbalanced lifting beam.

The project adhered to a tight schedule, with Keltbray contacting RSG Rentals on a Monday and receiving the MP-12 beam by Wednesday morning, ready for the operation.

The coordinated efforts between Keltbray and RSG Rentals, utilising Modulift’s equipment, ensured the operation was completed safely and on time.

Modulift managing director Sarah Spivey said: “This project shows the power of collaboration and the importance of having the right lifting solution available at the right time.

“The MP-12 beam’s capabilities were instrumental in overcoming the significant headroom constraints, and we’re proud to see it contributing to another successful lifting operation in the heart of London.”
