The company received accreditation to the AWE QC1 (Quality Class 1) manufacturing standard earlier this year following a comprehensive audit and 12 months of preparing and developing the relevant documentation. In addition, to business had to demonstrate its SQEP (Suitably Qualified & Experienced Persons) and manufacturing procedures to validate its competency.
By supplying ‘Class 1’ systems, SCX is offering equipment at the "highest and most important classification", which is vital to safety in this industry sector.

"We have an established reputation for our crane and lifting equipment in this safety-critical industry and now by achieving a score of 100 per cent in this recent audit, we can demonstrate an exceptional level of assurance to AWE."
Enhanced safety features across these systems include remote operation, automation, recovery systems, single point failure prevention, condition monitoring and advanced fail-safe hoist braking systems.
John Hill, SCX Special Projects’ head of projects, adds: "We have installed cranes at many different nuclear facilities across the UK, including Sellafield, Hunterston, Berkeley and Winfrith and now with this Class 1 approval from AWE we will be able to demonstrate our capability at the highest level."
