Adrian took over responsibility for Certex’s training provision in 2009. The company credits his hard work, dedication and professionalism for making it one of the UK’s leading providers of training courses for the lifting industry.
Adrian started his career at Bridon Ropes, where he became quality assurance and technical manager. He then moved into specialist steel manufacturing, working on several high profile projects including the Millennium Dome and Chelsea Football Club. After a period of running his own business within the construction industry, he moved to Certex in 2007, initially on the manufacturing side of the business, before joining the training team.
He spent a year shadowing George Coull, who had led Certex’s training initiatives for almost twenty years, in preparation for taking over the role of Training Manager. Once in this position, he not only ensured the quality of Certex’s offering, but also set about leaving his own mark on the company’s training provision.
During his two years in charge, Adrian secured official LEEA accreditation for several of the company’s core training courses, including the popular Lifting Gear Examination Course and the LOLER and PUWER course. He also introduced a number of new programmes, including the free UK-wide training seminar for safety and rigging personnel, that now form an integral part of Certex’s popular training portfolio.
“Anyone who attended one of Adrian’s training courses will know what a fantastic trainer he was. He had excellent people skills and established a natural rapport with the delegates. He will undoubtedly be sorely missed by all those who knew and worked with him,” said Certex’s sales and marketing director, Charles Gillespie.
Adrian will be greatly missed by all his colleagues at Certex and many of its long-standing customers. He leaves behind his 11-year-old son, Adam, and partner Sabine.
