Houston is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China-based WSP Holdings Ltd, and manufactures speciality tubing and castings used to transport crude oil and natural gas from an oil or gas layer to the earth’s surface during the drilling process. It has a 1,350ft-long facility in Houston, Texas.

The new cranes were ordered after NAI inspected Houston’s existing cranes at the facility, and its management opted to invest in new lifting equipment to handle production.

Each crane will feature two five ton hoists bolted directly to a 10 ton trolley, which will run along a 79ft bridge beam. The entire crane will move along a 1,350ft runway system.

The double girder cranes will be used in Houston’s manufacturing process, including pipe threading, heat treatment and inspection. They will also be used to load and unload raw materials.

NAI has also been tasked with replacing the existing, worn rail at the facility in order to prevent premature damage to the new cranes.
