The cranes will span 33m with a lift height of 28m, and are to be delivered in July 2010.

Dongfang is a leading Chinese manufacturer of generation equipment for hydro, thermal and nuclear power stations.

Last year, Konecranes delivered a 550t industrial crane at the same site. Konecranes said Dongfang is increasing its lifting capacity as the size of power plants, and so the size of their turbines, increases.

“This order shows that a Konecranes EOT crane is a viable option in installations where the customer is upgrading capacity in an existing shop,” said Eric Chen, director, process cranes, Konecranes (Shanghai) Co Ltd.

“This is also the typical size of crane needed for turbine installation or maintenance in a hydro or nuclear power plant.”
