Schmalz was founded in February 1999 as the second foreign subsidiary of Germany’s J Schmalz GmbH, operating from a 1,800 sq f facility in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Earlier this year, Schmalz moved to new 20,000 sq f headquarters in Raleigh, offering increased office and warehouse space. The new site is “the biggest investment in its history”, Schmalz said.
It also launched a new vacuum lifting product in May, JumboFlex. JumboFlex can be mounted on a variety of factory crane systems, including overhead cranes, wall-mounted slewing cranes and column-mounted slewing cranes, and used to perform a variety of handling tasks. This includes one-hand handling of plastic bags, sacks, barrels, cans, buckets and pails.
