Gedling established Hoist-it from the garage of his semi-detached home in 1985, and it now operates from specially built premises with a portfolio of over 200 goods and passenger units with capacities from 200kg to 3,200kg. Beentjes and fellow director Barry McHenry carried out a management buy-in in recent years.

“Although we are in the middle of probably the worst recession in living memory, I felt it was time to hand the reins over to my younger and hungrier partners” said Gedling. “They have both been with me for over 20 years and have been more than instrumental in the success, growth and strength of the business. They both deserve the opportunity to take Hoist-it to the next level and I am sure that it is in safe hands.”

“We have put together a dedicated and professional team who’s quality, training and experience will pay dividends through this difficult period,” said Beentjes. “We are confident of consolidating our position within our specialist field and in meeting our customers growing needs and expectations.”

Gedling also established the Construction Hoist Interest Group in 1996 and will remain its chairman, as well as acting as a consultant to Hoist-it.
