Heladio Ramirez, 32, had been operating a radio-controlled overhead crane that bundled and loaded steel when a cable snapped, the report said.
It is believed a block and spreader – heavy equipment used to move bundles of steel – fell, hitting Ramirez about 25 feet below. The items hit Ramirez in the leg, bounced on the cement floor and struck him in the face, shattering his hard hat, police said.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified of the incident.
