John Moseby has joined as training controller, Chris Abraham has been appointed assistant quality manager and Allan Holdgate joins as senior estimator.

Mr Moseby will manage DavyMarkham’s apprenticeship programme, Mr Holdgate will liaise with subcontractors and work on getting the best prices for materials and transport, while Mr Abraham will start his tenure at the company on the $20m IAMGOLD mine contract.

The IAMGOLD contract includes the provision of hoists and associated electrical drives and controls for the Westwood exploration programme in Canada. DavyMarkham will also supply the “largest double drum hoist supplied to North America in recent times” also part of the deal.

“Given recent and forthcoming important contract gains and our recently restored apprentice training programme, we need to carefully manage quality and cost issues on major projects and build up our own complement of suitably qualified personnel, to compensate for a national skills shortage,” said managing director Kevin Parkin.

“John, Chris and Allan are all experienced in their particular fields and will gear up our capabilities in key areas.”
