The heavy lift mast cranes, of 900t capacity (1,800t in tandem), will be designed and built by Dutch firm Huisman-Itrec.  They will be used to load and discharge heavy lifts to be carried by the vessel. Installation of the cranes on the vessels will take place in China.

The newbuildings will have hydraulically operated upperdeck hatch covers, pontoon tweendeck covers at adjustable heights, two trolley cranes of 37.5t SWL, hold ventilation and heating, with C02 and sprinkler systems in the hold.

The vessels will be able to carry all kinds of dry cargo as well as project cargoes and heavy lifts. To carry tall, heavy lifts such as cranes and modules the ships can sail with the upperdeck covers totally or partially open.

The vessels will be delivered at the end of 2009 and early 2010. BigLift and Larsen & Toubro have agreed on two further options for sister vessels.
