The operations of Uralskaya Stal are primarily concentrated to the Russian market and the company produces tube and pipe grades for industries such as oil and gas, construction and heavy mechanical engineering. This order is part of Uralskaya Stal’s comprehensive investment programme to modernise the methods of steel production, thereby increasing the annual production capacity and increasing the quality of products in the downstream rolling mills.

The casting crane is typically made for applications that require automation. If the job is unusual or complex, Konecranes can design and manufacture customised solutions. Design and components will be supplied by Konecranes, Finland and steel structures, bogies and hook beams by Zaporozhcrane in the Ukraine.
Konecranes has previously received large steel mill crane orders from Bhushan Steel & Strips Ltd. in India, Mittal Steel in Poland, SeverCorr LLC in the US, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and West Siberian Iron & Steel Plant in Russia, Taganrog Metallurgical Works and Seversky Tube Works, also in Russia.
The casting crane, which is rated for 210t process duty and 20t for maintenance lift, is specified for the highest duty class and complies, according to Konecranes, with the most stringent safety standards. The crane spans over 27.5m and is equipped with four girders and auxiliary trolleys with a 63/20t lifting capacity.
The crane has an air-conditioned E-room and features KCI Konecranes’ patented DynA common DC-bus inverter control technology with DynAReg Active Front End (AFE) and the DynAPilot anti sway system with positioning control. These features are electromechanical and, according to Konecranes, provide the customer with safe and efficient handling.
