Delegates from all over the world are planning to attend Crane Safety & Management 2005, the international lifting safety conference organised by Hoist and sister magazine Cranes Today, held in Amsterdam on 20 and 21 June this year.

Visitors from as far afield as Australia, the Middle East, Denmark, Italy, Cyprus, and Japan have already pledged their support for the conference, which will be held at the Hotel Okura, Amsterdam.

The conference offers an all-star line-up of international speakers. The keynote will be given by FEM president Heinz Helmut Kemkes – also the managing director of crane building company Kuli Hebezeuge. Other notable speakers include Yukinori Ouchi, director of the Japan Crane Association, Derrick Bailes, chief executive of the UK Lifting Equipment Engineers’ Association, Freek Hillebrand of Corus Steel, Janusz Szpytko of Poland’s AGH University of Science and Technology, and Walter Heinrich of certification body DNV Sweden, among others.

The two afternoons will be split into three concurrent sessions. One will focus on factory cranes, and the other two focus on lifting engineering and loader cranes – each with several more expert speakers.

An optional site visit is planned for 19 June to the head office and storage yard of Mammoet, the largest heavy lift and modular transport company in the world.

Finally, delegates are invited to a canal boat trip and dinner at the world-renowned Five Flies Restaurant in Amsterdam on the evening of 20 June.
