German crane builder Kuli Hebezeuge is supplying two gantry cranes to the Caribbean island of Barbados. The customer is concrete section fabricator Preconco Ltd. The cranes have 30m and 23m spans and run on rails. Each runs two 10t hoists mounted on a single crab. One is intended for inside the fabrication shed, where it joins a 16t capacity crane from Kuli delivered in 2000, and another is intended to be used outside. Inside, the cranes are intended to lift 12t-15t pre-cast concrete sections that measure up to 18m long and their moulds. Outside the crane will lift the sections on to trucks. Until the cranes are delivered later this year, sections are being moved and loaded on to trucks using forklift trucks.
The company has a distributor in Canada, Canadian Crane and Hoist, but actually got the job through an export firm based in Miami, Florida.
