Morris Material Handling Ltd of the UK has installed three cranes at a new factory of tissue paper producer LPC (UK) in Leicestershire.

The production facility is said to be state of the art, with the Morris cranes lifting rolls of paper at different stages of the production process. Two of the cranes are double girder design and have remote control.

One has a 20t SWL and 22.5m span, the other spans 32.5m, and has an SWL of 15t and a 13t motorised lifting beam that rotates through 180°. Both the double girder cranes have two hoists that work in tandem. The third is a 5t single girder, manually operated crane.

Morris has also supplied a 10t Goliath crane and a 36m supporting gantry to contractors building the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in the UK.

The Hochtief-Murphy joint venture needed a vacuum lifting crane for its concrete segment production facility. These segments will line tunnels under the river Thames. The new railway line will allow high speed trains to run between London and mainland Europe, via the Channel tunnel.
