Paper supplier M-Real is replacing and upgrading cranes at its mill in Sittingbourne in the UK. Konecranes UK is supplying a 20t SM double girder crane of 11.5m span, a 26t SMD of 11.5m span, and a 26t SMD of 14.5m span. All three cranes are configured to A8/M8 duty classification.
Konecranes is also supplying two 20t SMD replacement trolleys and a 26t SMD replacement trolley for existing cranes, modifying an existing panel on another crane and supplying a powered rotational hook on a previously supplied Kone crane along with radio controls and spare parts.
All the new cranes will have Konecranes Premium Condition Monitoring to minimise maintenance downtime. True vertical lift, floodlights, all motion limit switches, back up pendant controls, totally enclosed transmissions and festoon cables will be standard to all cranes.
The order, worth around £430,000 ($650,000) will be delivered to Sittingbourne during November and December this year.
Other contracts on which Konecranes UK is now working include an 80t SMD double girder crane for steel producer Corus’s Port Talbot site in Wales and a 130t/30t/12.5t SMD double girder crane for the Rijnmond power plant in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
