Excavator manufacturer JCB has installed more than 40 Abus top running overhead cranes at its factory in Cheadle, UK. Abus had to meet tight deadlines and guarantee 98% uptime.
To ensure there are no snagging problems with the festooning, the cross bridge power supply was installed via newly developed power chain. This also reduced side approaches. Abus’s new LIS load indication system gives each push button pendant a digital readout which shows at all times how much weight is on the hook.
Cranes on the same gantry were supplied with a photo-electric anti-collision device, designed to slow or stop cranes before they collide.
On completion of the contract, Abus received a further order for eight crane systems at another JCB factory.
