Mannesmann Dematic’s new RC-10 radio remote control system automatically searches for a clear frequency channel when the airwaves get crowded.

In Europe most radio controllers operate at the frequency range of around 433MHz, which is widely available without special approval. As a result, associated channels can get overcrowded.

To get around this problem, the RC-10 automatically tunes in to an available channel in less than two seconds, says Mannesmann Dematic.

Unlike infra-red remote controllers, which are limited to line-of-sight operation, the RC-10 transmits up to 100m in all directions, thus offering greater flexibility for the operator, it is claimed.

The receiver unit is mounted in an IP65 rated housing with the antenna enclosed within, removing the need for special alignment.

A fixing plate makes installation and removal straightforward. Main functions are incorporated into plug-in memory cards that can easily be replaced, if necessary.

To eliminate the problem of lost keys or wear and tear on the switches, the handheld transmitters are activated by an electronic password that is entered via the keypad.

The RC-10 is also available for use on other dedicated type-approved bands as a non-standard item if requested.
