KCI Konecranes’s UK subsidiary, KCI Carru-thers has a contract to provide three cranes – a 100t main crane, a 10t unit and a 5t unit – to a new UK power station at Sutton Bridge in Lincolnshire, which is being built by Stone & Webster Engineering.

The main 100t EOT has a 20t auxiliary hoist and a 29.2m span. KCI Konecranes’s proprietary ‘DYNAC’ system will be used to control the long and cross-travel motions with dual-speed control on hoisting motions.

KCI’s ‘REMOX’ radio control system will be used on the crane to give high positioning and control accuracy. Features on the main crane include floodlighting and access lights. It will also sport a load indicating unit with a digital display to indicate loads on either hoist.

Working alongside the main crane will be a 10t 29.2m-span single-girder maintenance crane with dual-speed operation. This will be fitted with an anti-collision mechanism to ensure that it does not clash with the movement of the 100t unit.

Completing the order will be a 5t crane that will be installed in the maintenance workshop at Sutton Bridge. This 18m-span crane will feature dual speeds and pendant control.

KCI Carruthers is also close to completing the supply of a 27-crane and 33-hoist order for the Blackpoint combined cycle gas turbine power station in Hong Kong. It has been progressively supplying this crane order to the power station over the last six years.
