The division will be based at a 4,800 square metre hub in Birmingham with the company saying it has more than 25 trained hoist engineers across its network. The Birmingham location will be followed by eight additional specialist hoist centres planned for later this year. Adrian Bolland, head of category hoisting, Speedy, will head up the division.

“We are always looking for opportunities to improve our product and service offering. This significant investment simplifies and improves the age profile of our fleet, enabling us to offer a consistent service nationwide. The investment also marks a significant step forward in ensuring we are the first choice for businesses that need hoisting and lifting equipment to deliver safe and successful projects,” said Lisa Blake, specialist services director, Speedy Services.

“Our new hoist division will meet a sharp growth in demand across the UK and offers the largest and most comprehensive product range available for nationwide delivery and installation. Coupled with the expertise and experience of Adrian and his team, this is a compelling offering that demonstrates our commitment to provide the industry’s best hire services to customers of all sizes.”

Speedy is also setting up 18 specialist heavy lifting locations, two of which – Rosyth and Ellesmere Port – are already operational.
