Being one of the main intermodal terminals in Ghent, DFDS Belgium can handle all kinds of cargo and is increasing its capacity by implementing a rail mounted gantry crane.

The Kuenz intermodal RMG crane is aimed at improving the terminal’s efficiency and productivity at lower costs while improving safety via an efficient camera system.

The crane will feature a non-spanned double girder, a rail span of 23m, one single cantilever of 8.25 metres and will be equipped with a piggyback spreader. It will be able to stack 1 over 3 containers.

“DFDS Belgium has placed its trust in Kuenz due to the reliability and performance of our cranes, and our wide and long experience in the intermodal market,” said Vincent Pelletier, area sales manager, Kuenz.

“Especially in times like these, it is important to rely on a European components sourcing for new equipment, which is our trademark and the assurance of highest quality and availability. Kuenz Benelux offers fast and efficient local assistance from Antwerp (B) or Vlaardingen (NL), both being a throw stone from Ghent.

“After Hupac and Combinant, both successfully operating their intermodal terminals with three Kuenz cranes in Antwerp, we at Kuenz are delighted to set up a new partnership with DFDS Belgium in Ghent and further strengthen our presence in Belgium.”
