Arco Professional Safety Services celebrates its 140th anniversary this year and has gained LEEA Accreditation for Training for two of its courses; Working Safely at Height and Rescue at Height.
No stranger to the association, the company has been a trading member of LEEA since 2013 and offers courses that cover safe working practices, correct usage of fall protection and fall arrest equipment. With working at height instances becoming more frequent in the lifting industry, LEEA has collaborated with Arco to ensure those in the industry are trained in safe working methods.
The Working Safely at Height course educates delegates on the correct use of harnesses and fall protection equipment through theoretical, practical training and assessments.
The Rescue at Height course provides the knowledge and practical experience to perform rescues at height, examined through a simulated rescue under the supervision of an instructor.
“As working at height experts, we are always keen to expand and strengthen our safety training offering. Through discussions with LEEA, we understood that working at height safety was a growing concern in the lifting industry that Arco Professional Safety Services was well placed to address,” said Steve Dawson, training manager, Arco Professional Safety Services.
“No matter the industry, working at height safety should be a priority for all employers and this accreditation allows us to train and educate more people in the importance of correct working practices which we take pride in.”
Rosie Webb, technical sales specialist, Arco Professional Safety Services said it came up with the idea after visiting LiftEx.
“I have worked for companies that are members of the association throughout my career and I know they have a high standard ensuring their mission to educate, influence, and enable, so that best practice is a priority. Arco Professional Safety Services aims to keep you, your people, and your business safe, with the two mottos being prominent for both companies. It was a great opportunity for us to work more closely together.”
The training provider has five locations in the UK; Linlithgow, Warrington, Trafford, Bracknell & Stafford, and can carry out the courses on user’s sites. It also recently introduced virtual reality to support training in confined spaces and working at heights, including immersive experiences to allow learners to experience the dangers posed in different environments.
Working Safely at Height includes legislation, guidance, practical applications, equipment, and managing risk.
The certificate needs to be refreshed every three years to ensure delegates are up-to-date with existing legislation.
Rescue at Height can be carried out once the Working at Height course has been completed, It provides delegates with the knowledge and practical experience to rescue a fellow worker suspended at height including inspection and servicing of the rescue kit used, demonstrations of the control rescue device, anchor point selection, and edge protection. Covering both the rescue of a conscious and unconscious casualty, this like the Working at Height course will be theory-based in the morning with a practical and written assessment in the afternoon.
This certificate needs to be refreshed every two years, or if a company specifies, can be renewed after 12 months.
Arco Professional Safety Services will be hosting a presentation at LEEA LiftEx, at London Olympia, October 16-17 2024.
