Here Angie Erven worked for Piedmont Hoist & Crane, describes how she started her career. She was regional sales manager at the company for seven years, before leaving in August last year.
“I worked in the construction industry at an early age, I was always a tomboy and started my career in the maintenance department for Progress Rail. Most of my career has been spent in a hard hat and steel toe boots,” she said.
“My biggest achievement was when I sold the largest project to Boeing in 2018 for $7.7m and successfully project managed the job until I left in 2021. Currently I am looking to move directions with my career. I have been in the construction industry for over 25 years, and I am finding it challenging to break into a new industry. My dream would be to be a yacht broker.
“In the beginning of my career, I was the first woman in my chosen industry for 80% of the jobs I applied for. I love seeing women out in the construction industry and how well respected they have become.”
