KCI Konecranes has set up a new division in Finland called KCI Plant Services to exploit the company’s crane maintenance capabilities within plant services.

“We are experts in maintenance and we can achieve good synergies between the two types of maintenance,” said Stig Gustavson, chief executive of KCI Konecranes.

Initially Konecranes is only pursuing plant maintenance in its home territory because it considers Finland to be a mature market for crane maintenance. Elsewhere there is still deemed to be the opportunity to grow business in crane service contracts.

Service contracts signed in Finland include technical services for Suomen Kuitulevy Oy’s plants in Heinola and Pihkala and maintenance services at Valmet’s Karhula unit. The latter contract includes preventive maintenance and servicing of machines and other production equipment.
