Crane attachment manufacturer Inter Product has developed a lifting clamp that has been specially designed for handling fragile aircraft components such as wing skins.
Inter Product developed the non-damaging IPNM lifting clamps in collaboration with Stork Fokker AESP but the clamps are also already being used by Boeing, Airbus and Lockheed Martin.
Engineered polymer pressure plates protect the panels being lifted from damage. A pre-tension locking device ensures the load is gripped firmly and safely. The clamps are fastened to a rail system and transport the panels through the factory.
