Lawson Mardon Star, a UK aluminium processor, has increased its floor space by installing a Pelloby overhead crane. Previously the company used lift trucks to move coils of aluminium strip around the factory to a de-coiling machine.
The all-electric single girder overhead travelling crane has a hoist capacity of 10t and has a span of 12.5m. It can operate at up to 20m/minute for both long and cross travel. The 10t aluminium coils can be hoisted to a height of 4m at a speed of 4m/minute.
The long travel drive incorporates Pelloby’s own Kinematic drive system, enabling fully adjustable, two-speed operation which can be configured on site to give optimum drive characteristics.
