Cattron-Theimeg reports that its MP 96 portable remote controllers (PRCs) have been operating overhead cranes “flawlessly” at the Lockheed Martin aircraft assembly plant in Marietta GA, USA since their installation late last year.

Lockheed Martin, which manufactures military aircraft at the Marietta facility, chose the MP 96 PRCs for more than 20 overhead cranes as part of a retrofit programme.

PRC operators control all hoist and trolley movements during aircraft assembly. One operator can conduct diagnostic assessments of multiple cranes with one controller. Safety is assured as a single operator can control all movements out of harm’s way. The MP 96 system contains two separate microprocessors that allow for simultaneous and independent data signal processing of all incoming commands.
