UK offshore crane and lifting equipment supplier Miko Oilfield Supplies is diversifying into the onshore market. David Atkinson, sales engineer for the onshore market of the Shipley, Yorkshire-based company expects turnover to increase by between £1.5m and £5m ($2.4m and $8m). Miko, established in 1988, already has a turnover of more than £5m ($8m) and also has offices in Aberdeen Scotland, Texas USA and Singapore. It employs 60 people and the new venture could raise this by another 50, according to managing director Keith Osborne.

A team of in-house designers allows Miko to offer all types of industrial crane, either specials or using standard components. Monorail systems are also available and a new hoist is under development. The special explosion-proof model will be easily adaptable for air, hydraulic or electrical power sources.
