Without boring you with the details, it isn’t always easy to find cover images. Cranes operate in dark, dusty environments and pictures with potential are often not clear enough when they are blown up to the sufficient size. The structure of, say, a bridge or gantry crane is also not conducive to the dimensions of a magazine.
The point I’m trying to make is that it’s always a challenge when it comes to this point of the production process.
But what do you think of recent front covers? Which is your favourite? Do you prefer pictures from industry or images that depict a certain genre or geography? Would your firm pay to have a picture of your products on an upcoming front cover of Hoist?
The December/January cover ruffled some feathers with many readers questioning the lack of fall protection present with the gentlemen working on the monorail. As I pointed out, the operation probably wasn’t as dangerous as it looked with the picture taken during the manufacturing process and not at height on the factory floor. Not that the points raised weren’t both astute and valid.
That cover was the latest of a series of application images, following a magnet lifter in November and a large-span overhead crane the month before.
Do you prefer these kind of images or the latest front cover of a rising sun, symbolising the growing Japanese market?
