Pfaff-silberblau has won a contract from Siemens Verkehrstechnik (Transportation Systems) in Germany for a rail project in Malaysia. The contract is to provide an under floor lifting system to lift Malaysian Express Rail Link vehicles.

The new rail link will connect downtown Kuala Lumpur with the city’s new airport and is scheduled to be finished in 2001. The order includes the supply of two under floor bogie hoists, 16 lifting jacks of 12.5t capacity, four 20t capacity lifting jacks and four manual turntables. The DM1.6m contract is due to be completed by August 2001 and be fully operational by the autumn of that year.

The under floor system is designed to remove Jacob’s bogies and other vehicle components quickly and easily. It consists of five platforms capable of lifting vehicles with a maximum weight of 115t as well as five body supports that can take the vehicle body on its chassis.

The wheel hoists are synchronously controlled to operate within a tolerance of ±3mm.

The control system, as well as the lifting system, is built to comply with current standards EN1493.
