The Detroit rehabilitation work includes, but is not limited to, providing new bridge drives, installation of new main and auxiliary hoist speed reducers and gearing,     modifying main and auxiliary hoist drums, providing new wire rope, providing new bearings and seals, replacement of electrical equipment and controls, and minor structural repairs and modifications. The new hoist and travel drives will be variable frequency drives. The Big Cliff rehabilitation work includes, but is not limited to, providing new bridge drives, inspection and rehabilitation of main and auxiliary hoist speed reducers, replacement of auxiliary hoist drums, replacement of main and auxiliary hoist bull and pinion gearsets, providing electrical equipment and controls, and minor structural repairs and modifications. The new hoist and travel drives will be variable frequency drives. Work also includes installing government furnished equipment. The cranes will be available to the contractor starting in May 2006. The Detroit crane must be fully operational no later than October 31, 2006 and the Big Cliff crane must be fully operational no later than February 28, 2007. The magnitude of construction is $1,000,000 to $5,000,000.

For this project the person that will act as the SSHO is required to have a minimum of three years safety work with similar projects and a 30 Hour OSHA construction safety class, or equivalent, taken within the last three years.
