In this period, manufacturing has shifted south and east, away from Western Europe, away from the USA, towards low-cost emerging markets.

Hoist and crane manufacturing has kept up with this trend – and not only the big guys. We reported last month how a small crane builder, the Italian firm Trevolution (formerly Prim), have jumped into Tianjin Province, China. At the same time, enterprising crane and hoist firms have shaken up established markets with different, or low-cost products from other parts of the world. There now seems to be more free trade of lifting equipment, and more choice, than ever before.

As traditional markets trade in emerging markets, and vice versa, the world becomes a smaller place. Soon, everybody is going to know everybody else – if they do not already. So here’s a list for your consideration. Think it is lacking a few names? Let us know.
