Factory expansion features new cranes
Mining Machinery Developments (MMD) is undertaken a multi-million pound factory expansion featuring new cranes from UK-based Street Crane, it was announced earlier this month. A mix of overhead travelling and jib cranes provides a flexible system for efficient and reliable lifting, handling and production flow that can be easily adapted to meet future expansion, Street Crane stated.
Libyan generator orders power plant crane
Algec, formerly Alstom GEC, have ordered a Konecranes SMT Smarton crane for one of Libya’s largest power plants, the Western Mountain Power Plant Libya. The contract is worth EUR 450,000 (USD 597) and will be delivered in April 2013.
Greece terminal orders 12 all-electric RTGs
Piraeus Container Terminal (PCT) in Greece has placed an order for 12 all-electric rubber tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) with Kalmar, part of Cargotec. The cranes, scheduled for delivery in late 2013, will facilitate the port’s continued expansion, Cargotec announced yesterday.
Demag Cranes appoints new chief operating officer
Demag Cranes has nominated Steve Filipov to its management board in the position of chief operating officer, it was announced earlier this week. Filipov will also become president of the Terex Material Handling & Port Solutions business segment of Terex Corporation, majority owner of Demag Cranes.
