German controls company CeSAR has launched CeSAR Blind, an open-loop anti-sway system.

The system is based on a control computer that acquires load movements and calculates the speed of the moving crane and uses a mathematical model to reduce sway. The system cannot damp sway caused by external factors such as wind, dragging or diagonal towing.

The computer has Profibus and Ethernet interfaces, or can be specced with input/output modules.

A number of control algorithms are available to adapt the behaviour to specific wishes and requirements, such as high handling capacity or thorough crane operation.

The system also offers an automatic travel feature that brings the crane to a target position and stops load sway.

The system has been designed for cranes working without load sway measurement or those working in high dust or high-temperature conditions.

The system requires frequency inverters on all motions.
