Smith was previously general manager with a competitive service company, overseeing the sales and service efforts for the company’s central region, including marketing, forecasting, budgeting and operations as well as the overall performance of 22 service branches. He also served as district manager for the gulf-state region and as a branch manager.

Smith served in the United States Navy for nine years, where he earned the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroism. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
