SM10 chain hoists will be used to produce the scenic effects by lifting the lighting and sound equipment in the National Olympic Stadium. The main challenge was to deliver 400 motors and 15km of chains in six weeks.
More than 400 SM10 1004 m1-A hoists are already supporting 200 truss sections of about 10m in length. Each section is moved by two motors equipped with 45m chains. Some 140 sections are supporting intelligent luminaries and approximately 50 support a speaker cluster. Another 100 hoists are used at various places in the complex and at other Olympic venues.
The contract for the Olympic Games marks a decisive step in the development of the Stagemaker range in Asia, after the contract concerning more than 450 chain hoists was won for the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia.
Crucial to the contract was the Stagemaker product presentation in The Great Hall of the People located at Tiananmen Square in June 2007, organised by Verlinde dealer GIAE (Beijing), for Olympic officials and other VIPs from the Chinese entertainment and theatrical scene.
Jean Wiart, who is in charge of selling the product in Asia, said: “We are particularly proud of this contract.”
The SM10 1004 m1 chain hoist can lift loads of up to 1t, at a speed of 4m per minute.
