Previously, Berthan was the president and chairman of two subsidiaries with responsibility for expansion of the Chinese activities of the Weidmüller Group, a leading manufacturer of electrical connector components.
Before this he held various management positions including board membership of the Helmut Lehmer Group and as CEO of the communications technology division of RWE Solutions AG.
Berthan succeeds Dr Thomas Zipse (50), who has left the company at his own request.
