UK-based PHL Hydraulics UK has invested in Enerpac Cube Jack technology as the company gears up for new civil engineering opportunities.
It is the first UK company to add the Enerpac SCJ-Series 100 ton cube jack system to its range of lifting systems, significantly broadening its project handling capability.
PHL Hydraulics UK is an established provider of hydraulic cylinder jacking systems, flat jacks, torque equipment and services to the construction industry, civil & marine sectors and tunnelling industry for everything from foundation repair, temporary works, to building elevation and heavy equipment installation.
“We’ve had our eye on the Enerpac cube jack incremental lifting and lowering system for some time and see it as a start to continue to invest in Enerpac heavy industries. It’s a good fit with our jacking experience and packs a lot of lifting power in a small footprint, said Anthony Redmond, MD, PHL Hydraulics UK.
PHL Hydraulics UK has successfully completed its first Enerpac SCJ-100 cube jack project involving the installation of 12 pre-cast concrete bridge decks each weighting 110t on a estuary crossing The decks were transported to the pier locations along a fabricated causeway on SPMTs. At each location, the cube jacks, with temporary frame supporting the bridge deck, were stroked to +1.8m, and driven in between piers and lowered onto pre-set bearings.
“We’re now being asked to handle larger civils projects and so opted for the Enerpac 100 ton cube jack to give us the lifting capability and speed of deployment we’ll need. As our first cube jack project showed, we made the right choice! Our team did a great job on their first lifting project with the SCJ-100 cube jacks,” added Redmond.
Enerpac SCJ-Series 100
The SCJ-100 Cube Jack is a compact and portable hydraulic solution for synchronised incremental lifting and lowering of heavy loads up to 400 tons. It uses a base lifting frame and self-aligning, lightweight steel cribbing blocks to provide high-capacity and stable lifting up to 3m. The SCJ-100 Cube Jack comes with a storage frame to make tool maintenance and inventory management easier.
Steel cribbing blocks have several benefits over wood cribbing, including fewer cribbing components to handle and align, lifting up to 8 times faster, and lifting higher than using traditional cribbing methods. Cube Jacks operate with up to 700 bar hydraulic pressure and are compatible with standard pumps, such as the Enerpac Split-Flow Pump that offers the ability to evenly operate multiple Cube Jacks.
