Konecranes UK has won a £550,000 (Euro 811,000) order for the construction and installation of three cranes for the Huntsdown power station, Ireland.

The order includes a 115t SM double girder model with a 30t auxiliary hoist and a 70t SM with a 25t auxiliary hoist, both with 42m span. The third crane is a two tonne CXT single girder crane.

The main cranes will have DynAC variable speed on all motions and true vertical lifting. Other features and components being fitted include festoon cables, platforms, floodlights, travel rails, power conductors, and radio control.

All of the cranes will be fitted with ControlPro condition monitoring on each hoist to allow planned maintenance downtime and plot the cranes’ performance over their expected lifetime.

The cranes will be delivered in July.

In November, Konecranes UK is delivering a £121,500 (Euro 178,500) crane for Northern Ireland generator set manufacturer F. G. Wilson. It is delivering a 50t capacity 27 metre span CXTD double girder crane with two 50t capacity hoists.  The cranes will have radio control and DynA family invertor speed controls on hoist, cross and long travel motions along with true vertical lift and load summation between the hoists to ensure that the combined 50 tonne load is not exceeded.

It is also delivering a £90,000 (Euro 133,000) crane for Alcan Primary Metals Europe’s aluminium smelter in Locharber, Fort William, Scotland in November.

The 50t CXTD double-girder crane has a 19m span and is replacing an existing crane that Konecranes UK is removing. Also to be installed are platforms on each girder and a hoist platform. DynAC invertor variable speed control systems will operate with true vertical lift and overall control  by KONECRANES RemoX joystick radio.

To install this crane, Konecranes UK will use a specially developed lifting system with a single jacking tower with a slewing ring. This device will enable the crane to be jacked from below and then turned into position. This is to be used as roof removal is not possible and the headroom is limited.
