The device. called the Hubgehaenge, uses 12 belts on six mechanically-linked drive shafts driven by two motors. Each side of the square has four belts: two crossed in an X, and two hanging vertically on either side.

The device is basically an attachment for an overhead conveyor. It would be used for raising and lowering cars during final assembly work.
