Chinese material handling solutions provider GENMA-KALMAR has signed a contract with Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (PPAP), Cambodia’s main international river port, to deliver six rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) that focus on energy efficiency.

The agreement follows the recent shipment of a previous order to PPAP, during which the port’s representatives visited GENMA-KALMAR’s facility to observe the loading process and expressed satisfaction with the equipment and service.

PPAP, one of Cambodia’s two international ports, is integral to the country’s economic progress and logistics network. The port is committed to reducing its environmental footprint and urban truck traffic. The SmartPower RTGs, similar to the previous order, are designed to align with these sustainability goals by consuming less energy.

Earlier this month, GENMA-KALMAR signed an agreement with Marsa Maroc, a Moroccan ports and logistics company. Under the contract, GENMA-KALMAR will supply 50 advanced RTGs for Marsa Maroc’s TC3PC and Nador Port terminals, which are co-operated by global industry players CMA Terminals and TIL.

The RTGs for Marsa Maroc will include a range of safety and auxiliary systems, such as an automatic fire suppression system, anti-collision system, and truck positioning system. These features are intended to meet high standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability, supporting Marsa Maroc’s vision to be a leading entity in port, logistics, and maritime services both in Morocco and globally.

GENMA-KALMAR Terminal Container Handling Solution SBU general manager Susan Zha said: “We are thrilled to have been selected by Marsa Maroc for this prestigious project.

“This contract is a testament to our ability to deliver world-class equipment and solutions that meet the evolving needs of modern port operations.

“We are also enthusiastic to collaborate with global operators like CMA Terminals and TIL, which further solidifies our position as a trusted partner in the global port industry.”
