Swiss crane builder and hoist manufacturer GIS has launched a new design of electric chain hoist.
The initial roll-out includes three models of hoists with lifting capacities ranging from 40kg at FEM 4m duty, up to 1000kg two-fall FEM 1Bm duty, in single and two-speed versions.
The hoist replaces the Euro Model 2000.
With the gearbox separated from the hoist’s electrics, engineers can repair the unit without having to open up the mechanical parts.
The hoist can be converted from single to two falls without being dismantled.
The hoist motor is suited to three-phase 220V 50 Hz electricity, or three-phase 380/420V 50 Hz. Single-phase versions are standard too. Overheating protection is an option. Head height is 363mm.
A slipping clutch integrated into the rotor transfers power to a driveshaft, which is then braked – a new position for the multiple-disc brake. The brake position is claimed to increase safety. The brake is also designed to last the lifetime of the unit.
The hoist includes two-stage gear reduction.
A geared limit switch for top and bottom hook positions that is directly linked to the chain wheel is also included. The lifting range – from 3m to 120m – is adjusted by pushing down the plastic rocker and then setting the switching points by adjusting the screws.
A version with powered travel drive is forthcoming. Models with capacities from 1t to 5t are due to arrive in spring 2006.
