It specified and installed specialist Verlinde Stagemaker hoist equipment to BGV D8+ compliance, with a robust remote hoist controller, capable of controlling up to 16 hoists simultaneously from one radio controlled handset. Hoist UK also re-cabled the venue to accept the new hoist equipment.
Hoist UK co-director Paul Jordan said: “The industry, and our own business, is now focused on safety above all. There is a distinct necessity for hoists in this environment to comply with the BGV D8+ standard which has been specifically written to cover hoists suspending loads above members of the public or performers.”
He added: “Although this is currently a standard specific to Germany, it is being gradually adopted by all the major European countries to cover such installations within the event rigging industry. If venues do not install to this standard now, they could get a nasty shock in the future when they have to retro-fit BGV D8+ standard hoists in response to the inevitable future legislation change in the UK.”
