The bridge will be lifted and lowered to allow ships to pass through it, up to 20 times a day.

Jonach, the Verlinde integrator in Argentina, has been tasked by the city of Tigre, in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, to design and implement the ‘lifting bridge’. Eurobloc VT hoists have two-speed pole-change hoisting motors with maintenance-free DC disc brakes. Verlinde said they are equipped with four-step gear limit switches, overload protection and variable speed travelling motors.

Jonach said the main difficulty on the project was to design a robust steel structure able to safely move 20 times a day. “For such a project a very high reliability level is needed,” said David Joltac, manager of Jonach.

“The bridge will be used each day, and a breakdown is not a possibility. Using Verlinde’s hoist is a guarantee of full reliability without interruption.”
