Igus of Germany has launched what it claims is the smallest energy chain in the world. The E2-micro has a 10mm chain link pitch which, Igus says, allows silent running. It is designed for applications where a confined space needs to be equipped with an energy supply. Such applications, according to Igus, might be measuring apparatus, automatic assembly machines and rolling gates.

The energy chain is available either as a closed chain link or with the Igus ‘easy chain’ mechanism, which allows it to be installed without tools by clipping it together. It is also possible for the chain elements to be assembled in any length according to need.
