JK Lifting has installed a 10 ton overhead crane at its North Tyneside base, following a £150,000 investment to meet increasing demand from clients, aiming to reach £10 million turnover by 2030.

The company also has plans to expand its workforce, with new roles expected in its engineering and operations teams.

The investment follows the opening of Lift Point House last year on Killingworth’s Camperdown Industrial Estate, a facility that marks a significant step in the firm’s expansion.

James Bright, managing director of JK Lifting, explained that the new crane would provide a major boost to the business, which has recently secured contracts across key sectors such as offshore, marine, renewables, construction, engineering, and manufacturing. Clients including Equinor and PFC Marine have helped to solidify the company’s presence in these industries.

“Moving into Lift Point House has been a major turning point for our business,” Bright said. “It has given us the capacity to expand operations in inspections and compliance across multiple sectors. The investment in our facilities, particularly the overhead crane, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to strengthening our capabilities, growing our team, and expanding our client base.”

Founded in 1983 by John Kesson, JK Lifting was acquired by Bright in 2019. The company opened a marine base at the Port of Blyth in 2022, further cementing its growing reputation in the industry.
