KCI Konecranes is double its manufacturing capacity in Shanghai and expanding its hoist assembly factory to produce bigger capacity equipment.

Konecranes has been assembling CXT standard wire rope hoists and industrial crane components in Shanghai since November 2002. The factory was purpose-built for Konecranes with 4,300 sqm of factory space on a 13,300sqm site in an industrial park on the edge of Shanghai.

Konecranes has announced that it is adding 4,000sqm in manufacturing floor space to produce lifting equipment components of higher lifting capacities in its Special Cranes range. These products include heavy-duty capacity hoisting trolleys and crane controls for large electric overhead travelling cranes and rubber tyred gantry cranes. The new facility is expected to be completed by mid 2005.

The company is also planning a new assembly site for special cranes in Tianjin, near Bejing.
