Konecranes, a Finland-based material handling solutions company, has acquired Polipastos y Instalaciones MEG (PIMEG), a Spain-based firm specialised in crane sales and services.
The acquisition aims to strengthen Konecranes’ presence in Catalonia and across Spain.
Founded in 2008, PIMEG focuses on the sales, service, inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and modernisation of crane systems.
With 23 employees, PIMEG also specialises in procuring spare parts for crane systems.
The companies did not disclose the financial details of the transaction.
Konecranes South-West EMEA industrial service and equipment director Roger Faja said: “The acquisition strengthens Konecranes’ presence in Catalonia and Spain and ensures that the in-depth knowledge and expertise of PIMEG’s team remain accessible to customers.
“We look forward to delivering cranes in the market with Konecranes components and bringing our maintenance services for all types and makes of industrial cranes and hoists.”
PIMEG’s previous managing director Eusebio León Muñoz said: “Together with Konecranes, our entire team can continue their work and expand the business in a future-oriented and secure manner.”
Konecranes operates worldwide, with around 16,800 professionals working across more than 50 countries.
The company is structured into three main business areas, including Service, Industrial Equipment, and Port Solutions.
Konecranes Service offers specialised maintenance services and spare parts for various types of industrial cranes and hoists.
The Industrial Equipment division provides a wide range of industrial cranes, catering to both light-duty applications and demanding process uses.
The company’s Port Solutions segment supplies equipment, software, and services for the container handling industry, with a focus on technological advancement and service commitment.
Last year, Konecranes acquired German crane and service supplier Kocks Kranbau, enhancing its port services and expanding its reach to new European and global customers.
Kocks Kranbau, established in 2023, operates primarily in Bremen, Hamburg, and Oberhausen, following the insolvency of its parent company, Kocks Ardelt Kranbau.
