Statutory negotiations started on March 18, 2009. The aim was to adjust the company’s cost structure and capacity to the current, weaker market situation and to secure future competitiveness.
Konecranes has already adjusted its capacity through various arrangements, for example, by reducing the use of hired personnel and temporary employment. In addition, the company has shifted subcontracting back to in-house production.
Meanwhile, ongoing temporary layoffs are “continuing according to plan,” said Konecranes, “but these may be extended according to work load in different departments until May 31, 2010.”
