Originally delivered by KCI Konecranes in the 1970’s, the twelve cranes scheduled for modernisation operate in the reactor, fuel and turbine buildings at Ringhals. KCI Konecranes personnel worked closely with Ringhals engineers to define and develop the solutions for meeting the new safety standards.
The scope of the modernisation includes replacing the existing hoisting trolleys and all the electrical components. KCI Konecranes will deliver twelve new single failure safe hoisting trolleys with lifting capacities from 100t to 135t. The cranes include variable frequency motor control technology and load path restriction systems to limit the crane movements to defined areas. The first deliveries will commence in January 2006 through 2007.
