This means that engineers, examiners and anyone with an interest in the safety or technical aspects of lifting operations can download the newest version of the free-to-download app to their mobile phones.

Version 2.0 includes a news feed linked to a portal where the latest Leea news, videos, documents and LinkedIn posts are shown, while content such as Leea guidance documents, videos and more can be downloaded directly to a mobile device for use offline.

The app also provides safety alerts and gives direct access to the LEEA Library. As soon as Leea releases new content, users receive push notifications on their device.

Member-only content is also available in the new app, but will require a member login to access. Current LEEA Connect App users will not need to re-download the latest app as long as they have automatic app updates enabled on their phone.

Ross Moloney, CEO of Leea, said: “Previous version of the Connect App were only available to Leea members, but making the new LEEA Connect App (Version 2.0) publicly available opens up a huge opportunity for anybody involved in lifting to benefit, for example, from directly accessing Leea’s Code of Practice (Copsule), technical guidance and expert advice. We firmly believe this will increase awareness of best practice, ultimately leading to safer lifting operations.”

The LEEA Connect App (Version 2.0) is available for mobile devices on the Apple App Store and the Google Play store.

Leea is a representative body for all those involved in the lifting industry worldwide. The association has played a key role in this specialised field for over 75 years, from training and standards setting through to health and safety, the provision of technical and legal advice, and the development of examination and licensing systems. It represents its members across a range of both public and private bodies, including various government departments, as well as nationally and internationally recognised professional and technical institutions. www.leeaint.com
